Our Beginnings (2007)

I opened my first brick-and-mortar shop in August 2007, shortly after moving to beautiful Southport, NC. After meeting my husband, Daniel, I knew this was where I wanted to plant roots and share something special with the community. Coming from a family of retailers in Pennsylvania, I understood the value of offering unique, high-quality home décor and gifts while providing exceptional customer service. With that inspiration, Cattail Cottage was born, becoming a Southport gift shop where residents and visitors alike could discover whimsical home décor, hand-painted collectibles, and one-of-a-kind treasures.

Growing with Southport (2017 - Online Launch)

While I loved connecting face-to-face with customers, many visitors asked if they could continue shopping with us once they returned home. After nearly a decade in business, I decided it was time to answer that request. In January 2017, we launched our online store, making Cattail Cottage's whimsical décor and unique gift collections available to homes near and far. The online shop is always evolving, with new products added regularly, and it continues to be one of the most exciting ways we serve our customers beyond Southport.

New Chapter (2021-2022 Relocation)

By 2021, our first location had outgrown its space. Due to unforeseen circumstances which turned into a silver lining. I relocated to a larger storefront in 2022, just three blocks away from the original shop. This move allowed us to expand our offerings of hand-painted Lori Mitchell figurines, seasonal décor, and unique collectibles, while creating an even more welcoming shopping experience for the Southport community and visitors who return year after year.
